There was no dish excellently prepared. Never got that far, though I braved the snarky receptionist's attempt to not be helpful and waited half an hour for seating to open. That I was on wheels was obvious, as was the fact that the main part of the restaurant is not accessible to wheels. Nonetheless, Madame Snark allowed me to find out on my own after the half hour wait. The hostess who tried to seat me in another area entirely without any hope of access to the salad bar defensively asserted that the place is "grandfathered" in regard to the ADA. Hmmmm seemed newer than 1990. But evidently, they are also grandfathered from common courtesy. Bit of a curmudgeon is old granddad.

We heard the salad bar was the best in Burlington and we found it to be pretty good. Fresh ingredients were key. The salad bar had a local cheese selection that we enjoyed. It's included with an entree so we chose to go for the smaller servings as we are not big eaters and large portions are not usually finished. The smaller portions are an option on the menu so watch out for that, very few restaurants offer this option. My 6oz ( or was it 8oz?) sirloin steak was cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed her fish. The wait staff were friendly and provided good suggestions, one of which was the artisan cheese plate for I believe $14.99. 3 artisan cheeses, grapes, a cranberry rhubarb, olives and crackers, well worth it. We enjoyed the wonderful variety of food we had between the salad bar, bread, main entrees and cheese plate. I will try to provide a photo of this cheese plate if I can. Would recommend this restaurant to people staying at the BW Windjammer and to people who want a change from the downtown Burlington restaurants.

We went here for my friend's rehearsal dinner the night before her wedding. There were no rooms available at the time, so they shoved us all into a corner in different booths. Not their fault at all, but it was a little cramped. Drinks were okay - my vodka tonic was HUGE. My friend ordered a sidecar, which they didn't prepare correctly. Her husband ordered a neat whiskey and that had no idea what that meant. Minus points for you. Salad boat is just that - lots of options, which was nice. They had some cabot cheese and crackers, which was a good addition to what they already had. I ordered the aged NY Strip and it was good. They do have a HUGE menu of so many different things - lots of different cuts of beef. My steak was a little bit on the fatty side, but cooked exactly how I ordered it. This wouldn't have been my first choice of a place to eat, but it was pretty good for what it was.

I was in the area for a week and ate here twice. Good diverse menu, obviously an emphasis on steak. Food came out cooked to temp and hot. They use food runners so when the food is ready it comes out immediately, doesn't wait for your waitress to have time. Their salad bar is a nice bonus that comes with the entrees. Service was on point. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the area again.

This would be 3 and 1/2 stars for the food, and 5 stars for the service. Service impeccable, the cooking of the fish done to perfection. However, fish only seasoned with sugary sauce. Lacks flavors and complexity. We tried both salmon and swordfish and were disappointed with the seasoning of the fish. Sugar is not an appropriate taste to go with fish. Only order ONE main course and no appetizer as the portions are big and salad bar will fill you up. Really good wine list.

I am specifically writing about the Tavern at the Windjammer Restaurant. While I do really like the main restaurant, the tavern, which is open and serves a wonderful Bar Menu (more like a full service menu) until 10:30 is truly a rare find. We traveled up from Southern Vermont and upon Arriving in Burlington at 10 PM on a Thursday, discovered that there were very few places to have dinner. The Tavern was open. Service was excellent. The menu very inclusive (I had St. Louis Ribs, a half rack with potato, bread and cole slaw, and my wife had a wonderful sandwich) and includes appetizers, entries and desserts which put many full service restaurants to shame. I highly recommend the tavern for late night diners. We will certainly return.

Yum!!! Whether you're upstairs or down stair this place kicks butt. The salad bar is amazing, fresh made bread, miles of toppings. I love that they even have roasted garlic cloves. The calamari upstairs always leaves me wanting more. It is a work of art, piles of breaded squid with spicy red sauce and jalapenos. I make it a point to go here at least once every visit. It's probably my favorite burlington area restaurant.

I use to be a fan of this place - the waitresses can be hit or miss, but the last time there has kept me from going back. I was there with one of the local distributors just to stop in and grab a bite and quick drink. We are very outgoing people and apparently if you laugh too much they wont serve you. The waitress refused to serve me and the distributor a beer at about 6PM - she was also very rude about it, if we weren't so hungry we would have gotten up and left. When you get a polite server - the food is great and the salad bar is like no other.

I visit Burlington every year in the fall and always have a great meal here. The salad bar is terrific and the upstairs pub a little more affordable. Highly recommended.

Wonderful service, magnificent salad bar, delicious salmon dinner, and a five star peanut butter pie for desert. Definitely a must try restaurant!

I was visiting Burlington with someone and looking for a place to eat dinner on the last night of the trip. Windjammer had a nice atmosphere, great service, delicious food (Filet Mignon & NY Sirloin/Teriyaki chicken), great salad bar, good drinks (Sailor's Delight) and dessert (Kahlua mousse). Will definitely return next time I'm in the area if I'm looking for a low-key place to relax and eat outside of downtown Burlington. P.S. House salad dressing (dill ranch) is also highly reccomended.

We arrived about a half an hour before the restaurant closed, which can often spell doom for your dinner plans (i.e. cranky wait staff, poorly cooked food). Not the case with Windjammer. Atmosphere was nice, dimly lit, clean. Romantic. Waiter was friendly and fast, though our wine glasses did run dry. Unimpressed by the salad bar, made the restaurant feel a bit cheap. The menu has a lot to choose from and I give them compliments on their large selection of wines. Our food was good, though my salmon was slightly under cooked in the middle, but the steak was cooked perfectly. Generous portion sizes. The creme brulee was a delicious follow up to the meal. We would definitely eat here on our next visit to Burlington.

Always good! Kids meals are great and the Upper Deck Pub is a good place for families earlier in the evening. The Prime Rib is always delicious ad the salad boat is loaded with lots of great options. Don't miss the Cabot Cheese with the salad boat at dinner.

I've eaten in the restaurant many times, but this was my first time in the pub. The food and service was great! Will continue to go up to the pub when visiting this restaurant.

Basically chose to eat at the Windjammer because they were able to accomodate a party of 11 on the eve of the Vermont City Marathon. Very large restaurant...it looked like they had a wedding party and a prom gathering there that evening and still managed to seat our large party in a nice, quiet corner room. Very pleasant atmosphere. Choices were plentiful on the menu for both adults and the kids in the party. Portions were generous - we chuckled over the chicken tenders served to a five-year old in the party...the meal would have fed him for a week. Most in the party had seafood - very nicely done. A half-chicken dish was also very good - someone did order chicken teriyaki and was not completely impressed. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Very nice evening all around - we'll be back for the marathon next year and we'll no doubt return to the Windjammer.

Excellent!! Steak was delicious. Had it with the wild rice and salad bar. Gin and tonic initially was in a pint glass which should be a red flag for any regular drinker...but the waiter was very friendly about asking the bartender to make a fresh one in a rocks glass. Good decision as the next two were very good and strong! My wife enjoyed her filet mignon and mashed and we are about to enjoy our dessert that we got to go. One tip...call ahead and you will be seated much faster. The two old ladies that cut us in line were stunned to see us get seated right away. Ha!

Picked this place out based on a couple reviews for a nice dinner during a recent stay in Burlington. When we pulled in the parking lot we started to debate giving it a shot, we have a rule against restaurants attached to hotels... We decided to give it a go... I'm glad we did, this place was great! Maybe one of the best cooked steaks I have ever had. All the beef is dry aged and the seafood is fresh daily. They have a salad bar that is top notch included with the meal. Clean and well stocked. Good beer list and an even better wine list. Our waitress was amazing! Truly a perfect dining experience...

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner during restaurant week and were both disappointed. The portions were smaller than expected even given that we were getting a deal. Most of the meal was mediocre at best. The steak was disgustingly fatty but the salad bar was good. The salad bar will not disappoint but the rest of the menu will.

Went here with my husband, son, mom-inlaw, dad-inlaw, sister-inlaw, brother-inlaw, grandmother and aunt. We all loved the salad/bread/cheese bar. The drinks were good, mojito for me, gin and tonic for the hubby, then beer and wine for everyone else, except our toddler of course, he had apple juice, straight up. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I had a pork tenderloin with panchetta stuffing (that's my pre-vegetarian days), and everyone else had steak, and we didn't find it too expensive. I would eat here again next time we're in Burlington.

Being a New Yorker I don't usually like these "formula" retaurants. This place, though, had the best prime rib I have had in years. Gracious service, inexpensive wine list and superior salad bar made the dinner a complete success. I highly recommend it.

I've been going to this place for years. I most definitely recommend anyone in the area should check it out. They have the best salad bar on the East coast. My favorite thing to order would be prime rib of course, cooked to perfection.

Amazing meal! A little more casual than I expected, but food was delicious and prices were fair. The salad bar was decent, but the cheese plate and vermont ravioli trumped it. Would certainly recommend to others

Margarita was just ok. Pork burger with tarragon aioli was amazing, sweet potato fries were not crisp. great service, very loud (we ate upstairs) definitely not a disappointment.

Read the earlier reviews, ate in the upstairs pub. Fish was excellent, service was fine, atmosphere was congenial, and upbeat. Plan on stopping here again when in Burlington.

After walking around all of downtown Burlington and stopping in every restaurant only to be told there was a 1.5-2 hour long wait for a table, we decided to look elsewhere. So we found the Windjammer, but we actually ate at their "upper deck pub", the upstairs part of the restaurant. It's a nice bar-. Large seating area- and nice tvs everywhere. They had local beers on tap- tried the Good Night Irene Long trail and Northshire's Equinox pilsner. Both not bad- but spectacular either. For food, we just ordered apps- pretzel with switchback ale cheese fondue and the wings with maple chipotle BBQ. Both very good- and very filling- and most importantly everything was very inexpensive. And the service was good too. So in my head I was toying with the idea of giving them 4 stars, but maybe just 3 because I wasn't away or anything, but then the check came and we were given Andes mints with the check! The perfect little finishing touch- thus I have granted to them a score of 4. Not sure I would make a point to stop in here again, on a Saturday night when all the restaurants are crazy busy- if I was ever really hungry and didnt want to wait, I know the Windjammer would be there to save me.

This is a reliable place to take most anyone - everything is tasty if a bit expensive, and the salad bar is amazing. While the menu is not innovative, it's still wide-ranging and well prepared, and the service is pleasant.

For one, why does the Upper Deck Pub not have their own Yelp review page? In my opinion, there are two different establishments here; Windjammer Restaurant and Upper Deck Pub. I came to the UDP with a bunch of friends before a concert at Higher Ground just next door. Our hostess was very attentive and made sure we all had drinks throughout the time we were there. Thank you! We placed our orders and waited, but twice, our hostess came back and told two of my friends that what they ordered was no longer available...ok, poor timing on our part?! All the food was brought out, except for mine. It seems like they kind of forgot about my turkey burger, but that's okay, the drinks were flowing! The turkey burger was good, but the sweet potato fries were soggy and not crispy (I hate soggy fries!) All in all, we all did not have any major complaints and our hostess was very accommodating. However, by the time we left we all had at least three drinks to go on top of the three drinks we had before we got there, so yeah, we felt pretty damn good! It was a great show also....I will come back here for sure.

We had dinner at the Windjammer and were not overly impressed. They have a decent selection at their salad bar with all fresh ingredients. Nothing that we ordered for dinner was overly impressive, and we thought the prices were high for the relative "I can get this anywhere" food. The stuffed pepper was tasty but mushy, and their fish platter relatively small for the price and not overly flavorful. I think they rely too much on their salad bar and not enough on their main choices. A better choice would be to order one of the soup and salad bar type options instead of a main course. Service was very friendly and helpful, but their are too many better choices in the area.

So I'm rounding up from a 3.5, but the Upper Deck Pub deserves some credit for doing pub food well and not pretending to be something that its not. We were here during the AFC championship game and thought that it could've used some better sized screens. Our server was good, attentive without being pushy. Menu is normal pub fare -- sandwiches, burgers, and entrees like shepherd's pie, meatloaf. We started with the nachos, a hefty tasty portion. I had the pork burger and the boy had the meatloaf. The burger was full of flavor and stuffed with peppers and onions. All in all, a solid spot to grab a bite if you're staying in the area.

I used to get dragged here by family who were fooled by the salad bar and lobster (a rarity in Burlington). Thankfully, they seen the light and have been leaving just as disappointed and feeling ripped off as I was. On our last visit this week, they finally said, "never again!" Hallelujah! Everything I've order here has been woefully underseasoned, lacks sophistication, and is low on flavor. If Robert Irving (Restaurant Impossible) dined here, I bet he would be screaming at the owners for hours about the blandness. They need to add a rub or some seasoning to the steaks, fish, and lobster to give them some taste otherwise they just end up with this boring, bland, waste of food! Another sore point is they don't offer any updated sides or even decent classics. They only have a plain bland baked potato, rice, or mashed potatoes or asparagus and brussel sprouts for an upcharge. Well, at least Grandma is happy! They need to take their heads of the sand and see AND taste what their competitors are doing. I find it remarkable that they always seem to have 3-4 people at the hostess stand but not one of them has ever been bothered to say, "thank you for dining with us", "how was your meal", OR ANYTHING at all to us or those leaving in front of us. Instead, they seem to just ignore everyone exiting. I guess they don't want to chance getting complaints about the food in front of the new suckers. Overall, they're pretty close to being a decent restaurant. But, sadly, they're stuck in the 1980s and packed with old folks. The younger folks with them all seem like they can't wait to get their drink and have it all over with. Come to think of it, I've only seen a few people under 50 years old dine downstairs on their own. Its no surprise really. The dated food and atmosphere must be very unappealing to more sophisticated and well traveled Burlingtonites. In the short term they'll likely be fine. In the long term, if they fail to change and after the seniors age out, they'll be in serious trouble.

    - I loved the idea of having sort of, 2 different establishments in one. I sat upstairs which is more "sports bar" like area. The servers were awesome, responsive and made sure I wanted for nothing. I was also introduced to the "Salad Boat". That thing is

This is a local institution, to be sure, but every time I'm with a group or function that ends up at the Windjammer my heart sinks. The salad bar is a remnant from the '80s, with lackluster and flavorless toppings. Over the years I've tried different entrees hoping to find one that is decent that I can return to. I have yet to find one. Last night I tried the pork, which was cooked to the consistency of tough shoe leather and tasted like it had been soaking in artificial liquid smoke all day. For the unreasonably expensive price tag, there are scores of better restaurants in the Burlington area.

I'm always surprised how full this place is upstairs at the Upper Deck. Hard to find a table tonight which was frustrating.

I give the Windjammer 3 stars. We made a reservation for 10 pm and right when we sat the waiter rushed us right away about the salad bar closing and in so many words to hurry up and decide on the food. I didn't like that. The atmosphere is very nice and elegant (very ship like). It is a great restaurant for family or a date night. Even thought the waiter rushed us, the service was very friendly and fast. The tables were clean and the staff always came and checked on us. I gave the Windjammer 3 stars because the food was mediocre at best (with the exception of the appetizer). The salad bar had food that had been sitting out all day and it wasn't very tidy. There were different foods were they weren't supposed to be. The salad bar also has cheese and bread which was actually delicious. The pepper jack-jalapeño cheese was very good. For the appetizer we had the bruschetta which was delicious! I would recommend it. The bread was yummy and the tomatoes tasted fresh. For the main course I had the teriyaki chicken. It didn't taste like teriyaki and the chicken was so dry. I could barely chew it. I needed a lot of hot sauce to actually want to eat it. I got the wild rice and mashed potatoes sides which I would recommend. I got full off those because I couldn't eat the chicken. My boyfriend has the broiled salmon. I wish I had gotten that plate because the salmon was very yummy. It was healthy yet still tastes great. My boyfriend got the mashed potatoes as a side but unfortunately his mashed potatoes were very cold.

I think it should have been 3 $ signs but totally worth it. Celebrating our anniversary. Lobster tails were so sweet and delicious. Teriyaki sirloin amazing. Easy to walk to from our room at best Western.

Wow, windjammer is Awesome. Solid salad bar with cheese, bread, and good salad options. The oscar filet (10oz filet with lump crab and asparagus bernaise sauce) was fabulous. Wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked. Very tender. Thick Yukon hold mashed potatoes were heavy heaven. Rib eye topped with mushrooms and burbon onions was really wonderful. Great sauce. Great fatty piece of meat. Mango martini was also very fruity and delicious. Friendly service. I would definitely return.

I love this restaurant mainly for their salad boat! The items are always fresh and plentiful when I visit. In a nutshell, I could practically drink their house dressing.

Couldn't find a problem with this place, but didn't try too much either. I've had their salad bar in the past which was pretty good. We came for cocktails a few weeks ago and they were good. The decor leaves a lot to be desired, but it has a log cabin feel if you're into that. Nothing too exciting, but not a bad place.

When I'm craving salad this is the first and only place I think of. The restaurant does a superb job with their salad selection-they call it a salad boat (all the salad you can eat for $9.99). The set up looks like the helm of a boat and you help yourself to any veggies and toppings you may like. FYI by toppings I mean REAL BACON bits and their spectacular house dressing. There are plenty of other additions I just happen to be in love with the above mentioned. The staff are also very helpful and friendly- I've always gone with friends and the check always needs to be split multiple ways. The staff never complain about it or make a fuss- they just happily agree. :)

What a Resturant!!! Not going to lie...when we walking in...immediately thought we were under dressed and had our kids in a non-kid friendly place....despite yelp telling me it was a casual place and kid friendly...but Yelp was correct!!! The hostess and waitress were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious...the beer was cold...had a good conversation with the wife, and the kids behaved at dinner...winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!! This place has now become a staple in this family on our trips to Burlington!!!

If salad bar only is what you're in the mood for, I fully recommend this place. The salad bar has options galore, very fresh ingredients. a nice bread and cheese bar and lots of condiments to choose from. With that said, their entrees are borderline awful. I've tried this place enough to fairly say they are consistently not good. This last time around my partner ordered the scallops and they had a grainy texture and were just alright. Far from the buttery, melt in your mouth experience you want from your scallop. The bruschetta we shared was just okay. It was smothered in tomatoes and reminded me of cheap frozen pizza. I ordered the chicken granchio for my entrée and it really wasn't very good. There was a side of wilted spinach, lump crab meat and roasted peppers that accompanied it, and that was the worst part. My chicken and its sauce was okay, although the texture felt processed, but the side was absolutely gross. The "lump" crab meat was like tuna fish, limp, filled with crab shells, topped with the most bland, over cooked peppers I've ever tasted. We shared the carrot cake and neither of us liked it. It had a sugary coating on the frosting that gave it a weird crackle and the cake itself was quite dry. It wasn't a very nice finish to a underwhelming meal.

Sue and I are were going to be spending a day in Waterbury. On our way there we had a planned trip to the Windjammer Restaurant as an old friend of Sue's works here. She had never been to eat here before so it was a good excuse to drop in. The menu here is pretty big for lunch. I'm sure it is the same for dinner. Lots of variety. Burgers and sandwiches, steaks, fish. You name it, they probably have it. We both started out with a cup of the New England (well, duh) Clam Chowder ($3.99). The soup came with those oyster crackers that are so prominent in this part of the country. This chowder was really good. After that I headed over to the Windjammer Specialties section of the menu where I eyed the St. Louis Style Ribs ($11.99). Braised and served with maple chipotle barbecue sauce and a spiced apple cornbread muffin. The meat fell off the bones. Some of the ribs had more meat than others which was a bit disappointing, but that happens. The ribs that were meaty were very meaty. The sauce was killer. Sue got to spend some time with her friend and we had a good meal. Good place to stop on your way to Waterbury if you are going to go do some beer tasting. That is where we were headed next.

We used to go to this restaurant a lot -- every other week -- when we first moved to Vermont 5 years ago, and often took out of town visitors. But in the last three years or so, every time we've gone, we've been disappointed, and our visits have tapered off to twice a year. A few months ago, I ordered the filet mignon. To my dismay, it had been brutally tenderized to the point it had a pre-chewed consistency. When you order a filet you expect it to be tender, not tenderized. It put me off of eating steak there. This last time, I avoided meat altogether, and opted for the salad bar and chowder, which has always been great, but this time the salad bar made me pause. Salad fixings were slopped everywhere and looked old or dried out. The dressings were not labeled, and the foil wrapped butter had clearly sat out until it melted and was then re-chilled.( It tasted none too fresh.) This was around the time they opened, so it wasn't after a long evening. We watch a lot of Restaurant Impossible and shows of that nature, and looking at that salad bar made me a little weary. When I unwrapped the butter, well, that was the end of that meal. I'm not sure what's happening to the place. I've worked as a server in restaurants, and we would never have passed muster by the management if we put out food like that -- not at those prices. That said, the staff is very nice, as usual, but something fundamental about their standards has slipped, as if no one cares about quality. Whatever it is, they need to address it.

This is for upper deck. Food was great the burger is a really good deal and beer selection is good to. Had salad bar all four of us had dinner, beer and under 60 dollars it was loud but worth it will be back. Still one of my favorite spots

This is one of my favorite places to eat in the Burlington area. We went to Vermont this past winter and wanted a nice place to go for a birthday dinner. You can't go wrong with the Windjammer! Everything here was incredibly tasty. First a have to start with the salad boat. Yes, I said salad BOAT. The salad bar/boat was one of the best I've ever had. All of the toppings were fresh and delicious. The best part was the cheese. The cheese was real Vermont cheddar and was some of the best cheese I have had in a while. For an appetizer we had the Spinach Dip. It came out hot and fresh. The artichoke, brie and spinach each complemented each other well to create the perfect appetizer. At the recommendation of our waitress I had the grass fed rib eye for my entrée. This was seriously one of the best steaks I have ever had. It was tender and cooked perfectly. I would eat this steak every night if I could. Finally we ended the night with a delectable dessert trio: Chocolate Sin Cake, Vanilla Bean Crème Brule, and the Kahlua Chocolate Mousse. It was HEAVENLY. These desserts were rich and sweet. If I had to pick one I would say get the Kahlua chocolate Mousse. It was very flavorful but not too dense. To accompany my dessert I had the tiramisu martini. This martini was seriously delicious. It was chocolaty (which went great with dessert) and it tasted very smooth. Overall, the Windjammer was the perfect dining experience. From start to finish we had great food, great service and a great time.

The last entree I had here was a bit disappointing, but I've eaten here many times and its usually very good. The Windjammer is fairly traditional, although they appear to locally source as much as possible and have been doing so for decades. The entrees are mostly a big piece of protein and a starch (best mashed potatoes ever). Everything comes with the salad bar, which is unbelievable and as far from the wilted lettuce and soggy cucumbers that you're imagining as possible.

Upstairs is a very good place to party and watch the games. Service is good and food was very good. Limited selection but the clam chowder was awesome! Had the steak and it was cooked perfect and very good flavor. Good beer selection.

I've gone here a few times a year since I was a kid, and it's still amazing. The salad bar is my kryptonite; I've started buying half gallons of the house dressing to bring he! Overall I love this place and they seem to be doing quite well, it's always packed when I go! :)

In a town filled with wonderful restaurants, this is always my go-to. I recommend this place to anyone new in town, someone looking for a local bar to get delicious beers, or anyone who enjoys good food! I usually get the salad boat... its unbeatable.. but sometimes I will indulge in their delicious steak, salmon or nachos if I'm in the bar!

This was our second year celebrating Valentine's Day here. This place is as good as it gets in Vermont. Nice atmosphere and great setting for any celebration! The food was delicious and the all-you-can eat salad bar (with purchase of an entree) was an added bonus. Definitely try the Creme Brulee!!

Excellent! My boyfriend and I went to the upstairs bar in the Windjammer restaurant based on a recommendation from they guys behind the desk at La Quinta Inn. We got there right before happy hour and were 2 of 8 people at the bar, but by the time we each finished our sandwiches and beers the place was absolutely packed! And for good reason - Great draft selection of local craft beers, which our bartender was happy to describe and introduce us to since this was our very first stop in Vermont. Food was great, beer was great, service was friendly.

Gorgeous restaurant. Never thought I'd give a 4 star review to a restaurant with a salad bar... but damn, that salad bar was fantastic. Great menu, fantastic food, amazing decor.

Spacious, busy, great salad bar. My steak was always truly well done without being overdried. That tells me a lot. Desserts are so so. But drinks are great! I usually get calamari, Salman for dinner and tickle pink as a drink! Definitely on a list for a tasty dinner

So I'm sitting at the bar at Wind Jammer right now and it's been almost 45 minutes and they have yet to deliver my appetizer. A simple Chicken Quesadilla... So far Everyone around me had their food delivered and here I am.... Lalalala. The bartender was great though, very apologetic. She even offered to buy me beer. I declined since I was driving. Alright an hour later. Woohoo!!! Foods here. The food. Well the chicken on the dilla was shredded. Really shredded. I thought it was tuna. There was enough seasoning on the chicken that It tasted almost like chicken. I was looking for that crunchy piece of chicken though... I chatted a bit with the locals beside me and they had positive things to say about the place, so take this review as a one off. Thanks to the bartender, she made the wait and the experience tolerable... ;-)

We came here for a family dinner on a Saturday night and had a great time. The salad bar is nothing to write home about - bagged greens, assorted veggie toppings, a nice creamy dill dressing, cottage cheese and (inexplicably) wasabi peas. What really stood out were our entrees: I had the Salmon Dolce, a perfectly cooked piece of fish with a dijon and sweet potato crust; and he got a medium filet mignon that was absolutely heavenly. It's out of our budget to eat there every night, but it was a wonderful treat for our last night in VT.

Food is fresh and good. Nothing too special or exotic. Regular menu with nothing with strong flavors. Service ok and a tad rushed (don't bring me the check while I'm still eating dessert).

My favorite dinner spot in the area! My family and I visit here often. Great food, service, and atmosphere. The salad bar is amazing, and I recommend any of their salmon dishes.

The Windjammer Upper deck: subpar at best. I am yet to eat at the lower restaurant but in my experience at the upper deck, myself and another stopped in for a low key dinner and drinks. Though out server was talkative and friendly, that and a labbat blue were the high point of the meal. We got the calamari and pub pretzels for apps, the calamari was ruined by excessive vinnegar and mediocre red sauce and the pretzels (which are hard to mess up) were hard and accompanied by a "cheese sauce" that I wouldnt feed to my dog. I got the french dip and my guest got a turkey baguette, both sandwiches were low quality meat, bland in taste and my au ju was nothing more than watery beef broth and oil. Safe to sat this was a waste of time and I will not be returning or recommending this place to anyone.

The windjammer is a consistently great go-to place in the South Burlington area. Although attached to a hotel, they do what they do quite well and in a gorgeous setting. I LOVE the pub upstairs - it can become a wait for a table but there are a lot of them so it's never too long. I have never had any complaints about the food but I must say that the side salad last night was not great. The lettuce was drenched in dressing and the flavor seemed odd to me. Beyond that, the food is wonderful - thanks Windjammer!

Great place, delicious salad bar, very fresh with a lot of options to choose from. Excellent food, I ordered a sirloin steak medium well with baked potato and it was perfectly cooked, I Love It. Prices were reasonable and you get your money's worth. Could be a little noise at times but not extreme.I highly recommend this place :)

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE the Windjammer Restaurant - it has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. I now work in South Burlington, and decided to have lunch at the Windjammer today after an appointment. It was late (after 2pm) and I only had a short time left before having to be back at work. I didn't want to do fast food, so I figured the salad bar would be quick! I walked in and was greeted by a friendly hostess and told that I would have to sit upstairs in the pub, as the main dining room was closed. I went upstairs, and was ignored for at least 5 minutes - I didn't even see anybody that looked like they worked there. I was running out of time, so went downstairs to ask the hostess if I could just help myself to the salad bar, and she wasn't there. I left and went next door to Moe's - one of my least favorite restaurants in Burlington. Windjammer, you let me down!! All that I wanted was a salad!!! (I will be back...) ***UPDATE*** I just ate at the Windjammer Restaurant today for lunch (3/25/13) and it was not a good experience. I was seated promptly, and the salad bar was good (not great), but the fruit salad was on the verge of being rancid - I had to spit it out onto my plate! My server was nice, but he kept telling me that I didn't need to rush, over and over again! Him saying that made me feel like I needed to rush! It was a poor experience. What's happened to this place!?!? Maybe single people should expect bad service, but there's no excuse for the disgusting fruit salad.

Awesome place. We tried coming here the last time we were in Burlington for dinner and there was a 2 plus hour wait. We found the trick is to come for lunch. I had the swordfish yesterday and today I had the shepards pie. Both dishes were amazing and cooked to perfection. Definitely a must place to eat when coming to Burlington.

Overrated. I've gotten the pulled pork sandwich, it was mediocre at best.

A coworker and I were in Vermont for a work trip. After a seemingly endless day of driving around, we dragged our tired, slumped-over selves into this restaurant not knowing what to expect, just hoping for a semi-decent meal before retiring to bed for the night. What we found was far superior to decent. Beginning with one of the best salad bars I've ever experienced. There were so many fresh options, accompanied by an array of house-made dressings so good we couldn't resist the urge for second helpings. Even better was the cheese that was offered. Sliced fresh off the block and tasting like it was just made at the farm down the street, we both agreed it was some of the best we had ever tasted. Our entrees were well seasoned and perfectly cooked, but the salad bar was definitely the highlight. After our excellent meal we practically skipped out of the restaurant because we were so delighted at the unexpected gem we had discovered. Part of me wonders if the meal was really that awesome or I was just that hungry. Either way, now that we are back in Maryland, my coworker and I often reminisce over that dinner and try to convince our boss to send us back to Vermont so we can be sure!

Just came back from a delicious birthday lunch with a friend at the Windjammer, and I must say, today they surpassed my already high expectations! Their food has always been first quality. Today, my friend's sea scallops were not to her liking (she thought there was "something off") and the waitress could not have been more professional and courteous. So sorry. Would you like something else? You're welcome to get something from the salad bar, etc. The hostess also came over, apologized, etc. My friend declined their offers, she said she'd just fill up on the side dishes. We moved on to dessert, and my chocolate mousse had a lit candle in it! And this was just from us mentioning it casually as we sat down. Well, when it was time for the bill, the paper inside just said "Happy Birthday from the Windjammer!" We checked with the waitress--no charge, and Happy Birthday to me! There have been times I've dined in places where something was wrong with the food or the order, and nothing, not even a free dessert. But this waitress went out of her way to make our experience a most pleasant one. (The beef stew was amazing, by the way.)

Had the soup & 1/2 sandwich which was good. The clam chowder had a good ratio of everything it's supposed to have. I had a Bloody Mary w/ no vodka (aka...Virgin Mary) which was VERY good. Nice amount of horseradish....would go back for sure.

Going to agree this is a good place to eat. I think its a little pricey, but worth it. Clean , food all good, pleasant staff. Down side not handicap friendly. Need to do stairs to get to salad bar.

This is a staple of the Burlington restaurant community. I usually sit upstairs at the upper deck pub. You can't go wrong with the salad boat, french dip, bison burger, pork burger, filet, enchiladas, or shepards pie.

Beers are great & that is where good ended. Server Nicole is rude with attitude from beginning, actually tried "teaching" me (nice word for fighting with me to prove she was right) & the manager Stewart was just cocky when we spoke to him, along with a smug smile on his face. The servers were all in corner laughing at us! Just rude service + the food was bad except for the chicken wings. Prime Rib sandwich dip was dry & burnt. Even the server who took over for 'poor' Nicole said, yeah, it looks burn. Not 1 apology. Never would go back to the Upper Deck they have no idea of customer service!!! Did I mention the beer was good? Try the Farmhouse in downtown Burlington & skip this place!

The Windjammer has been a good solid restaurant for years, and their salad bar is fantastic. However, like many other restaurants have been doing recently, they are showing how much a 20%, 15%, etc. tip should be on your check. But the amounts they calculate for you are conveniently DOUBLE the correct amount. For people who are in a hurry or hate math, I'm sure these people are tipping these exorbitant amounts. The last time I was there I pointed this out on a comment card, and received an email from the manager saying that they've been having trouble with the computer function or program that calculates the gratuity. Ok fine, that's understandable. So now it's 2 months later and I just dined there tonight. And guess what....the gratuity calculations are still very incorrect on the bill. This is very dishonest; they are knowingly providing false information and are really profiting from it. I'm very fond of their food, but this equates to really shady service.

Heard rave reviews about the salad bar - it was nothing special. Disappointed in the mediocre offerings. Steak that I ordered was good, not great. Nice place for a quick dinner (maybe) but definitely not for special occasions, and not worth the hype.

This place has such a good salad bar, I sometimes only order that! The pulled pork and crab cakes are great choices too. Eat upstairs at the Upper Deck Pub for affordable prices and great food.

Stopped in for restaurant week - I hadn't been in about two years. They had a wine pairing with each course that the server kindly explained you didn't have to have the exact pair with the entree/app/dessert you chose (want the steak but not the Cabernet? Not a big deal...I'm more of a white wine drinker myself). Yes, the salad bar is excellent. Wasabi peas and house-made dressings, fresh baked bread and really fresh veggies. I was honestly getting pretty full after the salad. Our appetizers came out promptly - I had the cheese plate which was as expected, although I wish the server would've told me which cheese were what. My palate isn't too sharp and I couldn't figure out what one of the cheeses was (although it was definitely a goat cheese). My entree was excellent and portioned well. I will take a smaller plate any day over a gigantic portion. I had chicken with wild rice. The chicken had a pesto cream sauce on it, and to my surprise was layered with fresh basil! I LOVE fresh basil - this was a very nice, delicious treat. Dessert was sweet perfection. Again portions were a great size! Not huge, just normal. No whopping slice of 7 layers of cake that you'd be eating for the next week. 24 karat cake was delicious and I really enjoyed the crispy fried pieces of shredded carrot garnish atop of the cream-cheese frosting. Overall - really great service, fresh delicious food. I'll be back again.

I am torn between a 3 and a 4 star rating. I visited on Sept 3 a Sunday evening,I did make reservations on Open Table. The place was buzzing at 6:30. The drinks were ok,the salad bar(boat) was very nice and the bread and Cabot cheese super. My petite filet mignon was done perfectly. The server was attentive but not overbearing. All in all a positive experience but would I return? I don't think so. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but it was good high quality, food.

This is one of the best places around to eat at. The dinner menu is vast, with a lot of good selections, and the salad bar is great. You can choose between the dining room downstairs or large bar area upstairs. Both are comfortable. Windjammer pulls off serving a high volume of customers with quality food. Sometimes their tap beer selection could stand to be a tad better, but food is usually quite good. Definitely one of Burlington's best restaurants.

Both times that I have been here, the salad bar was awesome, very fresh with lots of options! Love the dill ranch dressing. Good atmosphere, quick, polished service, perfectly cooked salmon. Very reasonable lunch prices, haven't been for dinner yet! Definitely recommend.

Great food. The 18 oz prime rib cooked and seasoned perfectly. Wish I had some creamed horseradish though. The baked potato was a bit plain but just a quick run to the salad bar or ask the server can get you hooked up. Solid beer selection. The wait sucked but hey it's popular. We were told no reservations until after 8 odd. Heady Topper!

Review is based on the pub! For what it is a pub, I thought it was great. Was in town on business and decided to give it a try. Was a bit suprised and worried when I saw it was attacted to a motel, as I don't like resturants that are part of hotels. I was plesently suprised at the atmosphere, and food. I had a burger and it was great, big and juicy. Seemed like a homemade burger as the menu stated.

Nice pub/bar area in the upstairs with a relaxed atmosphere. Tons of bar seating, high tops and regular tables with lots of TVs so you can catch all the sporting events. The service was decent although a little slow, but I think that was because there are not enough servers when the place is really packed. So while you are waiting there is a free serve yourself popcorn machine. I haven't tried it yet, but it does always smell go. For beer selections they keep it to mostly VT local brews although they do carry the macro brews on tap as well. The appetizers are the best thing at this place. They have very good wings in an assortment of sauces, but I prefer the maple habenaro sauce. They also make a good pretzel with a beer cheese sauce made with Switchback Ale. The best thing about this place is that the prices are pretty low so its a great choice for quick drink and cheap snack.

I've had some great meals here! I can't say enough good things about this place. Service has been consistent and the quality of food is spot on. But I'm bias cause I love seafood, which there's plenty of choices here for everyone. Great salad bar. I love how they offer different sizes of meat, I.e. the petite filet, which I usually get with their delicious delicate mashed potatoes! I have never tried their desert, but the menu is tempting and most likely awesome. Some may overlook this restaurant due to it being next to the best western hotel and it being away from church st., but In my experience you can't go wrong here! Also, try to make a reservation, its usually busy here. Once I had to wait 20 min even with a reservation...but so worth it.

My mom & sis were in town so we opted for a late lunch in the Upper Deck Pub. I have eaten downstairs many times for work functions, dates, etc. and have always had good food & service. The pub menu was very good. Our server was also the bartender but she multi-tasked nicely. Food was excellent and the dessert amazing. The 24k carrot cake & creme bulee was the best I have ever had & I have eaten all around the world. My sister is a vegetarian and the choices for her and the quality of the food very good. She would recommend the restaurant even though it is listed as a steakhouse here on yelp. My family left very happy and full. It doesn't get much better than that.

This place was "pretty good" but not spectacular. Ambiance and food were both fine but nothing to write home about. It was, however, incredibly convenient to the Burlington Hilton, so if you're staying there, it's an easy walk.

Amazing place to go for dinner or drinks! Excellent food, great atmosphere, nice decor, good prices! The salad bar is excellent and the menu has something for everyone! Weather you're sitting upstairs at the pub or downstairs in the more formal dining area, both have excellent choices and excellent food. The upstairs pub is a great place to watch sports on television, with a fun crowd. I will definitely return next time I'm in town!

When I lived in Burlington, I used to love coming to the WIndJammer for the Salad Boat. I'm a salad kind of girl and this was heaven! The Entree's were good as well, I usually ordered a fish, it was always delicious. Salad Boat!!!

After freezing our butts off at just about all restaurants in Burlington, found the bar area to be warmly and cozy, with great food and service. Awesome clam chowder, burgers, great beer selection. STRONGLY recommend, especially pre-Airport as its 5 min away but relaxing spot!

This has to be one of the best meals I've ever had for the price I paid for it. I had the French Onion Soup and Shephard's Pie. My boyfriend had the Petite Sirloin and the petite Creme Brulee dessert. Everything we had was fantastic, unbelievably inexpensive, and well-portioned. The Shephard's Pie is HUGE - not for light eaters or people who cannot take leftovers home with them. The mashed potatoes on top were immaculate - creamy, rich, just a bit buttery. The French Onion Soup was good- not the best I've had, but very good- and very, very cheesy. Not a great option if you're lactose intolerant ;) The Creme Brulee - wow! The petite portion was only $3, and was just a couple ounces- perfect for such a rich dessert. This was up there with the best Brulees I've ever had, and I consider myself somewhat of a Brulee connoisseur. The atmosphere is very Vermont-y and warm. Our waitress was friendly, ready to joke around with us and offer her opinions on the meals. For everything I just mentioned, our bill came to an awesomely cheap $47. Another great part is that this is in South Burlington, far enough away from the college campuses and the main strip that you can utterly miss all the traffic and crowds. Absolutely recommended and wish I was closer to the Windjammer - unfortunately I live several hundred miles away so I'll have to wait to come back!

This place has a great pub upstairs, though the service in the pub is hit or miss. Not a fan of the burgers but love the nachos, bacon wrapped scallops, and New England Clam Chowder. The salad boat is the best around and I especially love the creamy dill dressing and fresh breads! If you're in the mood for an alcoholic beverage, you gotta get Walk the Plank! So GOOD!!
